How much is malpractice coverage for gp small town doctors? I am referring to a doctor who makes house calls in multiple counties in rural areas. I know the piss poor amount of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement makes practicing this type of medicine very difficult. Just curious about the malpractice premiums.

malpractice rates vary wildly depending on specialty and state. A highly sued specialist such as an OBGYN in Miami Florida pays about 250K A YEAR for malpractice. A famiy doc in Indiana (a very tort friendly state) may pay 5K.
