I am a current MD student and I urge you from staying away from Student Doctor Network
That website is horribly biased in favor of DO. The rapid expansion of DO schools is NOT good for the profession. Education between DO and MDs are not equal
Also, that website sensor any posts against affirmative action, a discrimating policy.

That forum is ridiculous in trying to present DO's and MD's as equals. They might be able to do the same residencies, but how many DO's go into osteopathic medicine because they believe in it enough to practice? For some, it's a way to get the MD residency without having the grades. Hell, look at how NYCOM's BSDO program works. For years, they were assuring people with low 20 MCAT's, and if you didn't get it and cried to Dr. Hummel, they would still let you in, and then came the bloodbaths in NYCOM, when the BSDO's were not on par with the other students.
Simply put, people go to DO schools because the standards are lower and they may not meet the standards of an MD school.
And SDN protects those schools, probably because of advertising $$$. That Winged Scapula cunt also annoys me, pretending she's hot shit, holy, and inspired scrubs. She's a fucking nobody and a small person in her daily life, and found out that on the internet, she can finally be somebody important.

And appearently we even have a DO derm match when many MD students are unmatched at derm. It's time to close the allo match off to DOs.

It's not a matter of prestige or acting holier. While some Osteopathic medicine is science-based and valid, it has a long history of promoting bullshit snakeoil salesmanship (aka CAM). The spinal manipulation bullshit has been shown repeatably to be completely ineffectually beyond placebo and even cares stroke risks. In my book, something with nothing on the benefit end and a potential cost are never worth it, period. But DOs continue to push 19th century medicine with no regard for contemporary evidence. It does not strive to demonstrate the efficacy of many of its modalities and refuses contemporary standards of evidence-based medicine whenever possible.

Do you guys consider a DO who has honored academically at say PCOM or NYCOM, crushed the USMLE, done research, attended an Allopathic residency at a major big city hospital, does not perform OMM or preach about the divinity of the tibia, and is generally considered by his peers as a kind care giver and a decent clinician, a second class citizen to any given MD? Should he have his license stripped? Is he a total snake oil sales man? You guys are being mad general so I gotta know. I ask this honestly, not giving a shit one way or the other. Just answer honestly. Cause the posts above suggest that yes, he should never have been made a physician.
