60K in debt is nothing. 100K+ is something.
Seriously, 60K will be a 500~/month payment. Not ideal, but not crippling. If you go into another field and do quite well (it could happen, have some faith in yourself, broski), you will laugh about your law school detour.
You are doing far better than so many other people who went and didn't land a gig. I know people with advanced degrees in entirely useless fields who have 100k debt. You are fine, and you did get a degree, so don't worry too much.

seems a little early to give up. give it a shot and keep pursuing your goals. It took me 2 years but once i got started, moved very high up the ranks.

I'm in almost the exact situation OP. I don't think we are totally fucked. Many others at my TTT are going to be saddled with 250k+ debt and they are all in the bottom 25%.

It's a weird/funny concept, right? To think that no matter what your rank is in your class, there is ALWAYS someone worse off than you (except if you are the absolute bottom, of course). It's pathetic.

Just because the situation is grim and the going is tough doesn't mean you should throw in the towel. Never give up and keep on reaching for the stars. The next resume mailing, the next interview, the next contact might be the chance to make it. Think of it that way and rely on for moral support. Call me if you want and have no other friends.

Thin skins or thick skins, doesnt matter. Law practice is for all who dare to embrace the challenge it brings.

I wouldfuckfirmsform now and get into public shit--PD.,LD, ADA, I clerked at a PD's office and peoplewo havd been there for 5 yerrs were eclicpsing $100k for a STRICT 9-5 hour gig with nice lunch break etc...

Yes, it is a true TTT. However, another student at my school who I am positive received horrible grades now works at a firm making bank. Why? His father is a super rich and powerful lawyer in this area. God, the system works!
I pray to Zeus medical professionals are not hired based upon "who they know."
If someone offered me a contract in a law firm where I could gain valuable experience and my only compensation was food and shelter, I would take it.

I think you have the right attitude, but I am curious to see if you would truly follow up on your statement.
Give some firms / contacts / etc. a call and let them know that you are willing to work for some reasonable amount (even minimum, but dont make this your first offer) for the experience and exposure. I heard of a situation recently where this happened and apparently, the partners are very impressed with this individual and will likely bring him into the associate ranks.
There are hundreds of firms and thousands of partners, along with various government agencies. Trust me, there is nothing to lose. They can only say no and perhaps they will know of a position that you are not aware of.
Heck of a lot better option than your idea that began this tread.
