I think practicing criminal law is the best. Whether you are a prosecutor or defense lawyer, you are involved in making a difference, helping people, and really changing people's lives. I love working in the criminal justice system on either side. I think everyone should try it. Plus crime will always exist so there will always be work, right?

Just because someone isn't proven guilty doesn't mean they're innocent. Our system just doesn't punish them.

I have been reading for a while and decided to start adding my two cents. I would love to meet people in NYC who want to talk, debate, or just rant over an adult beverage.

Big money in defending child sex crimes, which cut across all demographics. Same in white collar defense, especially now that the IRS is generating most federal prosecutions.

YOU ARE FORGETTING DRUG CRIMES. DUI, sex cases, and drug crimes are the common offenses I see committed by people with money. Occasionally murder.

LexCorde (Jul 29 - 11:40 am)

That's not true. People with money have been convicted of many other types of crimes. It is just we are in the Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan craze where celebrity DUI's are all over the news. But many crimes are committed by rich people.

This is largely true. You don't get wealthy by being ethical and moral. Most wealthy are Madoff-types that just haven't been caught.

The best area of law is plaintiff's civil rights work where you get to sue cops and represent the criminals who have had their teeth knocked out or broomsticks shoved up their asses or fifty bullets pumped into them and you actually get money, lots of money in some cases to do it. Best of all, you get to hold yourself out as a defender of the Constitution. I am never more prouder to be an American than when I am getting money for someone who got his assed whupped, some cases well deserved, by some skin head cop. They don't give a shit either because the union protects them. I wish I was Eric Holder because I would spend my life's work bringing criminal civil rights actions to have these bastards locked up until they got the message and started behaving themselves when they put the uniform on.
