I am looking for trials to second seat if you need help. I understand times are tough and we ought to do a better job of looking out for one another. After all we are one big happy profession. People care about law degrees and licensed lawyers.

I don't cope. I am depressed almost all day long. I think at least two or three times an hour about how I'm the only one in my section who doesn't have a job. I feel like my life is ruined.

Why don't you workout? If have some biceps to intimidate the other dudes and to wow the ladies it will do wonders for you self-esteem, even if you're working at starbucks.

my 2 cents.

I do workout. However, I have been working out half-heartedly lately. I get really depressed anytime I'm around others. I feel like a loser because I'm unemployed. Working out doesn't do any good.

I don't have AIM.

A section is the group of people you were with your 1L year.

This morning: yes

Now: I'm drinking whiskey. So no. :)

(but seriously, I billed 12 hours today, half of which was for depositions across the state, the other half was driving back from across the state and then putting out a shitload of fires.)

i don't even feel good about billing anymore.... because i know how our clients are, and that they either won't pay or that they'll talk their way out of 50-60% of their bill (and we tend to underbill them as it is... no billing inflation here). kinda kills my morale and motivation. what's the fucking point anymore?

not enough to be dealing with this bullshit day in, day out. i feel like more of an office assistant, paralegal and runner than an attorney every day.

Do others shun you, look down on you, or assume you're lazy because you don't have a job? Do you worry that after three years of working that employers will ask you what the hell is wrong with you for having zero experience? Do you ever hold up a line at the supermarket because your debit card has been declined for insufficient funds?

TiredofStrugglin (Jul 29 - 2:30 pm)

point taken: things can always be worse. i get that.

not sure that means i should be thrilled about this shite job, which experience seems to hurt more than help. almost four years ago, i was invited to interview by an organization before i'd even found out whether i passed the bar. didn't get the job. i recently reapplied for a new opening for the same position at the same organization. this time i didn't hear anything. apparently my 3-4 years of 'experience' is hurting me... or at least not helping me.

You work for an ID shop? Carriers will cut your bills whether you underbill, overbill or submit an accurate accounting. I am not telling you to pad your hours, but underbilling is a bad idea because the carriers are going to cut your hours no matter what you submit. The only time you should underbill is if you took a long time on a difficult motion, and actual hours worked as reflected on the bill will raise major red flags with your client. A lot of clients have the attitude that they should not pay for research, even if it it a unique issue. Their attitude is you should know the relevant case law regardless of whether the issue is novel or boilerplate.

not even an ID shop. we just have assholey cheapshit clients. you know, the kind of morons/jackasses who boast about their net worth being in the millions one day, and then next day give you shit for turning around a stellar summary judgment motion in record time... because it wasn't done from research through service and filing in two billable hours. wtf?

with these clients, any long hours raise red flags. i'd rather be working for the ID shop at this point. our clients have a shit fit if we bill accurately, because they like to pretend they don't know how time-intensive litigation can be (even though they're serial litigants). and then even when we're conservative in our billing (and undercut ourselves), they still want discounted rates or half the hours taken off. it's ridiculous. sadly, if we told them to go fuck themselves, we'd have NO clients at this point.

what pisses me off most is that i'm not a partner or a solo. as far as i'm concerned these types of office management problems shouldn't be my concern or knowledge. i wish my boss didn't burden me with this shit on top of all the other crap he dumps on me.

end rant.

I get rid of that by simply unloading it from my body in the form of semen. I suggest some of you ought to try it out once in a while.

That's how I got the biceps that jdjoe was talking about, above. I hate the gym anyway, and the "stress removal" is way more fun.
